Min falls in love with the school sports hero, Ed. Amazingly, he falls in love with her, enjoying the way she is different. Yet the relationship doesn’t last. The books starts with Min working her way through a box of items that represent their relationship. She is returning the items to Ed and she is including a letter which explains the meaning of the items to him. The book is her diary of their relationship and through it we live the relationship with her – and also its breakdown.
Unusual and engaging, this book charts a relationship which seems destined to fail because Ed and Min are just so different. Through Min’s letter you relive the love affair with her and you so want things to work out, until you finally understand that it couldn’t. Funny and sad, this is a beautifully illustrated walk through the highs and lows of young love. It is written in a diary style and includes some long and wordy passages and many references to old films.
